The Faculty at The City Academy — Teachers Who Stay, Mentors for Life
A school is only as good as its teachers. Advertising, buildings, and technology are secondary. The primary variable is the quality, experience, and commitment of the people who stand in the classroom every day.
At The City Academy, Kalaburagi, we have 30+ qualified teachers across three programmes — Primary, Secondary, and PU Science. What distinguishes our faculty is not just their qualifications. It is how long they stay.
Teacher Stability — Why It Matters More Than You Think
The average teacher tenure at The City Academy is over 10 years. Several of our faculty members have been here for 15–18 years. This is uncommon in Kalaburagi — and it is the result of deliberate choices.
What long tenure means for students:- Teachers know individual students, not just class averages
- Teachers who taught a sibling already understand the family's values and expectations
- Institutional knowledge accumulates — teachers know which chapters students find hard, which exam patterns have shifted, what preparation approaches work
- Students trust teachers they have known for years more than strangers they meet in September
- Low salaries that force teachers to leave for better offers
- Poor working environment (lack of respect, facilities, support)
- No investment in teacher development
Qualifications
Every subject teacher in the secondary section holds at minimum a B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) degree alongside their subject degree. PU Science faculty hold M.Sc. in their subject alongside B.Ed., and several hold NET (National Eligibility Test) qualification.
Primary teachers hold D.Ed. or B.Ed. with training in child psychology and early childhood pedagogy.
A Note for Parents
When you visit The City Academy, ask to meet a subject teacher — not just the principal or admissions person. Ask them how long they have been teaching here, and what they find most challenging in their subject. The answers will tell you more about the school's culture than any brochure.
Teachers who stay for a decade are teachers who feel valued. Valued teachers teach better. It is that simple.
