Where Every Child Begins Their JourneyMontessori to Std V.
Ages 3–10 · Karnataka State Board · English medium · Smart Class from day one.
Building the right foundation.
The City School is the primary wing of The City Academy — where children from age three enter school for the first time. We believe the early years determine the attitude a child carries toward learning for the rest of their life. That is why we invest the most care here.
Our approach combines the child-led freedom of Montessori with the structured Karnataka State Board curriculum. By the time a child leaves the primary section, they are confident, curious, and genuinely excited about the years ahead.
What the primary section provides.
Montessori-Based Foundation
The youngest children — from age 3 — learn through purposeful play and self-directed activity. Montessori materials build concentration, independence, and a genuine love for learning before formal schooling begins.
Smart Class from Day One
Every classroom from LKG onwards has an interactive digital board. Stories, animations, and visual explanations make language and numeracy vivid and memorable — not abstract.
English Medium
Our primary programme is taught entirely in English, building strong vocabulary, reading, and comprehension from the very first year.
Arts, Craft & Expression
Drawing, colouring, music, rhymes, and drama are not extras — they are in the weekly timetable. Creative expression develops the whole child alongside academic learning.
Safe & Supervised Environment
Trained primary staff are present at all times. The primary section has its own separate entrance, play area, and washroom block. Parents can visit the principal any school day.
Strong Academic Base
By the end of primary, City School students are confident readers, have solid arithmetic foundations, and are ready for the dedicated subject teaching of the secondary section.

Common questions about the primary section.
From what age can my child join The City School?
Children can join from age 3 into our Montessori programme, followed by LKG and UKG. Formal Std I begins around age 6.
What is the medium of instruction in the primary section?
The primary programme is taught entirely in English, building strong vocabulary and reading from the very first year.
Do you follow the Montessori method or the state board syllabus?
Both. The early years use the Montessori activity-based approach within the framework of the Karnataka State Board curriculum — so children get a joyful start and a solid academic base.
Is the primary section safe for young children?
Yes. The primary wing has its own separate entrance, play area, and washroom block, and trained staff supervise the children at all times.
How large are the classes?
Class sizes are kept deliberately small so every child receives individual attention during these formative years.
What documents are needed for admission?
Typically the child's birth certificate, recent photographs, and previous school records if any. Send us an enquiry and the office will confirm the current list.
Ready to enrol your child?
Visit the school in person or fill in the admissions enquiry form. We welcome parents to sit in on a class observation day — just call ahead.
