The City Academy secondary section takes students from the curiosity of Std VI to the rigour of the SSLC board examination in Std X. These are the years that shape academic confidence — and we take them seriously.
From Std VI, every subject has a dedicated specialist teacher. The Smart Class system keeps teaching visual and engaging. Science labs are used from Std VIII onwards for proper practicals — not just theory that mentions experiments.
By the time a student sits for their SSLC board exam, they have had two full years of structured board preparation, regular mock papers, and individual attention on weak areas. Our pass rate reflects this investment.
What makes our secondary section strong.
Smart Class Throughout
Every classroom from Std VI to X has an interactive digital board. Complex concepts in science and mathematics are taught visually — diagrams, animations, and solved examples on screen.
Science & Maths Labs
The school has a dedicated physics, chemistry, and biology lab for Std VIII onwards. Practical work is conducted as per KSEEB guidelines — not as an afterthought before board exams.
Dedicated Subject Teachers
From Std VI onwards, each subject has its own qualified teacher. No single teacher teaches everything. Specialisation at the right age makes a real difference to depth of understanding.
SSLC Board Preparation
From Std IX, the curriculum is structured around SSLC preparation. Mock papers, chapter-wise tests, and model exam practice are conducted regularly. The board exam is not a surprise.
Language Excellence
Students appear for SSLC in English first language. Kannada or Hindi as second language. The school's consistent results in language papers reflect the depth of instruction.

Which board does the secondary section follow — CBSE or State Board?
The City Academy follows the Karnataka State Board (KSEEB), leading to the SSLC examination in Std X. It is not a CBSE school.
What is the medium of instruction?
The medium of instruction is English. Students take English as first language, with Kannada and Hindi as additional languages under the Karnataka State Board three-language system.
Can a student join mid-way from another school?
Yes, subject to seat availability and a valid transfer certificate (TC) from the previous Karnataka State Board school.
When does SSLC board preparation begin?
Structured board preparation begins in Std IX with regular chapter-wise tests, mock papers, and model exam practice continuing through Std X.
Are the science labs used before the board exam?
Yes. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology practicals are conducted from Std VIII onwards as per KSEEB guidelines — not just before the board exam.
What are the options after Std X?
Students can continue into our own City Composite PU College in the PCMB or PCMC Science stream, with priority given to City Academy students.
